In 1995, the Mauldin brothers dreamed of a Christian program to help addicted women. They donated 35 acres and a small house. By November 1998, the Tugalo Baptist Association was ready to begin H.E.A.R.T Ministry, Inc. An 8 week, 12 step alcohol/drug recovery program for ladies 18 years and older with capacity of 27 beds. If interested as a client, you must have a TB Test and have gone through detox before application can be taken.
On September 1, 2012, H.E.A.R.T. Ministry becomes a ministry under Penfield Christian Homes. H.E.A.R.T. will still be operated under it's individual director and staff but Penfield Christian Homes will oversee it's Administrative and Business Practices.
Donations for H.E.A.R.T Ministry can be mailed to: PO Box 170, Lavonia, GA 30553
Tugalo Baptist Association 2017 Spring Meeting Reprot
I want to start out by saying thank you to the Tugaloo Baptist Association for inviting me to the annual meeting to represent the Heart campus and the ladies and staff of Heart. We are always pleased to have the honor of speaking with you all about our program and ministry and to thank you all for your support, love, and prayers. We at Heart had a blessed but challenging 2016 and we were blessed with;
- 142 admissions, 105 to completion; 37 non-completions, 28 Professions of Faith, 30 Rededications and 26 Baptisms
I moved from the Interim Campus Director position to the Directors position on January 1, 2017, and Debbie Henson became the Assistant Director. Diane Godfrey moved from the position of Recovery Coach to Counselor Intern. Lem Clark the CEO of Penfield announced his retirement and Bill King is serving as Interim CEO until a decision is made regarding a permanent replacement.
The Heart program started the process of transitioning from a 6 week program to an 8 week program to give the clients we serve more time in their recovery process, to give the counselors more time to help them to work through their issues and develop a strong and lasting recovery, and to build their relationship with God. The transition includes added classes and groups to the program’s curriculum and 7 beds. We believe the ladies we serve deserves the best treatment we can give and a chance to live the lives they were born to live under the power and grace of our Lord God.
The Penfield program had some financial challenges last year based on a very low client senses for the third and fourth quarters of the year. We however did not allow those challenges to deter us from doing what God has ordained us to do which is serve those in need of help. We continued to provide treatment to those in need making arrangement for them to be admitted into our program even when they were unable to meet the financial requirements. We had faith that God would provide us with what we needed to provide our services without compromise, and as always he provided us with what we needed to do his will. We received help from a lot of the churches and organizations represented at this annual meeting and from many more who are not present. We are so grateful and blessed that God chose us to receive the love and support from those who blessed us with gifts, prayers, visits and devotions, and financial and other supports. No amount of given support goes un-noticed or unappreciated. We could not have given our clients what they need without your help. I wish that I could thank you all by name but, know that we love you, appreciate you, and pray for each you as you do so for us. The ladies of Heart wanted me to give everyone a very special “THANK YOU” and to say “We love you all”.
In conclusion I would like to ask each of you to continue to support our program as God places it on your heart to do so. Your support helps us to save the lives of the women we serve and the families who love them. We pray that God continues to bless you all in every aspect of your lives. Again I want to say Thank you for loving us and loving God.
